 Wine Tasting

Domaine Pichot Vouvray 2007
Estate bottled from Chenin Blanc grapes in Vouvray, in the Loire region. They call it "slightly dry" in France, although I would call it "off-dry". The aromas are honeydew, peach juice and a hint of spice. The palate is juicy and fresh, and the acidity balances the slight residual sugar in the finish.

Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2004

Gewürztraminer is without a doubt the most distinctive wine from Trimbach. The variety's pronounced fragrance of rose, lychee and spice introduces the rich and often powerful taste adopted around the world as the perfect accompaniment to spicy food. The 2004 Gewürztraminer is dry, with good levels of natural alcohol and plenty of appealing acidity-the Trimbach family's signature.

Our OctoberTasting ran from 5:30pm- 8pm.  Ciaran Molloy from Glazers Midwest presented our selections.

2004 Trimbach Gewurztraminer
2006 Duck Pond Pinot Noir
2006 Bogle Petite Sirah
2006 RIDGE Three Valleys

Duck Pond Pinot Noir 2006
More than 90% of the grapes come from two Duck Pond estate vineyards, which gives the winery great control over quality. This opens with aromas of Rainier cherries, strawberries and cloves, which give way to bright, rich flavors of bright red fruit backed by plentiful acidity.

Bogle Petite Syrah 2006

First produced in 1978 by the Bogle family, this 2006 Petite Sirah is considered Bogle’s “heritage” varietal. On the nose, luscious boysenberry teases you along with touches of black pepper and herbs. Trademark inky and jammy tones fill the mouth with ripe fruit and berries. The voluptuous finish lingers with toasty oak and lush fruit.

Ridge Three Valleys Zinfandel 2006

The 2006 combines fruit from 10 vineyard sites, including three in Dry Creek, five in Alexander Valley and one in Sonoma Valley, creating a blend that shows zinfandel character supported by a dose of old-vine carignan for more fruit and acidity, petite sirah and syrah for depth of color, firm tannins and peppery spice and grenache for briary fruit and lively tannins

  1. Apperance
  2. Aroma

  5. Finish
The above categories were judged on a 1-5 point scale.  Five being the max score per category and 25 being the max score per wine.
