Wine Tasting
|
Our May 30th wine tasting scores were the highest since we started the user scoring system. It was a close battle between the S.A. Prum Riesling, Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre and the Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay. My personal favorite was the riesling. According to our user scores, it was their favorite as well.

Our May Tasting ran from 6pm- 8pm. Ciaran Molloy from Glazers Midwest presented our selections. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of him during the tasting.
Wines Tasted The featured appetizer cheese ball was the Wind & Willow Chocolate Chip. These cheese ball mixes are great for any party. They are so easy to make too! All you need is cream cheese and butter. Add some cookies and you have a crowd pleaser for any event.
The Wind & Willow Cheese ball Mixes are made in Mt. Vernon Missouri. S.A Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett
A concentrated Riesling, yet reined in, with lime, honeysuckle, apricot and mineral notes. Powerful, with a long, lingering aftertaste and stony freshness. Drink now through 2025. 500 cases imported. –BS Wine Specator 90 |
Wine Tasting
Thanks to all who attended the wine tasting this month.
2007 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
This lush and inviting Sauvignon Blanc combines a rich, creamy mouthfeel with bright acidity and a long, refreshing finish.
2005 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay
Flavors of lemon, apple, pear, pineapple and cantaloupe - the full array of Sonoma's cornucopia of fruit, joins a nutty, spicy, lightly oaky profile that is sure to please those who love Chardonnay.
2006 Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre
Nicely focused, with a racy core of fig, hazelnut and pear notes that stays pure and elegant as the toasty edge remains in the background. The finish is long and juicy. Very stylish. Drink now through 2008. 8,000 cases imported. –JM Wine Spectator 90
2006 Falesco Vitiano
Shows lots of blackberry and licorice, with raspberry. Full-bodied, with round tannins and a fruity finish. A delicious, fruit-forward wine. Best after 2007. 205,000 cases made. –JS Wine Spectator 88
Interactive Wine Scoring
To make the tasting more interactive we decided to hand out personal score sheets. All those who filled out the personal scoring sheets were entered into a drawing for a free wine of their choosing.
The above categories were judged on a 1-5 point scale. Five being the max score per category and 25 being the max score per wine.
