Over 92 percent of the 2007 Pinot Noir comes directly from estate vineyards. The soil in these vineyards is primarily Jory soil, a weak volcanic ash that promotes low-yielding vines.
Tasting Notes:
Duck Pond allowed the 2007 Pinot Noir an additional four months of aging prior to bottling to ensure full tannin integration. The 2006 Pinot Noir marks a milestone for Duck Pond, as more “115” and “Pomard” clone plantings from our Duck Pond Estate and St. Jory Vineyard reached maturity, adding depth and aromatics to the wine.
Ratings:
Excellent! - Wine Press Northwest Spring 2008 Known for producing good quality at modest prices, the Dundee, Ore. Winery continues that trend, nearly pushing its way into outstanding category. More than 90% of the grapes come from two Duck Pond estate vineyards, which gives the winery great control over quality. This opens with aromas of Rainier cherries, strawberries and cloves, which give way to bright, rich flavors of bright red fruitbacked by plentiful acidity. (22,637 cases)
Vineyard Notes:
The Willamette Valley’s growing season was long, warm, and very dry. The grapes reached optimal ripeness about 10 days earlier than usual, with brix levels ranging between 25 and 26 degrees. The resulting wine is rich in color, fruit-forward, and full-bodied with spectacular aging potential
Other Notes:
• Well known Oregon producer lends name recognition • The excellent balance of this wine makes it great by the glass • Oregon’s mystique from a quality producer at value pricing
