Angels Share refers to the small amount of wine that evaporates from oak barrels during maturation. Mediaeval winemakers assumed that angels watched over the wines, and that they took their share. Selected from parcels of exceptional McLaren Vale fruit, this wine is made in a true Australian style and will appeal to both angels and mortals alike.
Dark black.
Lifted notes of spice, followed by a blend of fresh espresso, rich chocolate, dark cherries and freshly roasted almonds.
The mouth feel is long, dense and coating with luscious licorice, mocha, spice and blackberry flavors. With more fruit weight and tannin than previous vintages, this is a lot of fun to drink now but will age nicely.
2006 Angels Share - 93
The 2006 Shiraz "Angel's Share has an expressive perfume of cedar, wood smoke, leather, pencil lead, pepper, and blueberry muffin. Velvety-textured and ripe, it has outstanding depth and length and a harmonious personality. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
