THE VINEYARD
Our Twin Vineyards Pinot combines the supple texture and perfumed fruit aromas of the Petrie Vineyard in Rakaia with the power and concentration of our limestone rich Waipara Vineyards, resulting in a wine of depth and character.
VINTAGE
2006 was a classically great vintage in Canterbury with low yields and outstanding quality for Pinot noir. Blended with wine from our Waipara vineyard the resulting wine is perfumed, elegant and lingering in flavour.
WINEMAKING
The grapes were hand harvested, 90% were crushed/destemmed and 10% were added whole into open fermentation vats to enhance suppleness and aromatic quality. Warm fermentation and hand plunging for 15-20 days was followed by ageing in Burgundian Troncai Barriques for 8 months.
TASTING NOTES
The delicate ruby colour of this wine belies the succulent cherry/red berry, spicey character. The supple texture combined with fruit aromas creates a wine which is perfect on its own or with food.
