The 2005 offering from Hyde Vineyard is a stunningly rich pinot noir with considerable backbone to complement its plumy fruit and spicy aromatics. Dark red garnet color opens to a full, satiny palate of currant, boysenberry and forest floor, with well-integrated tannins on a toasty finish. Alcohol 14.8%.

Exhibits plenty of cool climate raspberry notes intermixed with cherries, cranberries, earth, spice, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied, and more complex than the Russian River bottling, but not as fleshy, it should drink well for 4-6 years.

Delivers a complex range of flavors, with cola, raspberry, mocha, herb and earth notes. Balanced and full-bodied, this gains richness and depth on the finish, though it loses focus slightly. Drink now through 2010.
