Tasting Notes:
Aromas of cantaloupe, guava, pineapple followed by a concentrated and rich palate of Asian pear, with a citrus finish. The bright acidity and creamy mouthfeel are well-balanced in the mid-palate. 30% new French oak gives a hint of vanilla in the background.
Vineyard Notes:
The 2005 vintage will be best remembered as one of the latest and largest crop years in history. The spring rains and cool conditions held back budbreak and fruit set. The grapes slowly and evenly ripened over the summer months and into October. This resulted in nearly perfect clusters with no random dehydration, each grape intact and full of flavor.
Winemaker Notes:
The vineyard name reflects the heritage of the land on which it is located. The 2005 Su’skol Vineyard has matured to confirm its personality. This is the 3rd vintage exclusively from this vineyard (in 2003 & 2004 it was bottled as Hess Collection Chardonnay) and the 2005 vintage is consistent with the 2004, yielding a concentrated Chardonnay.
