Harvest Notes
The harvest of 2005 was one of the earliest on record in the Anderson Valley. Overall quality was high as we were able to harvest the Pinot Noir grapes at optimum ripeness, particularly the exceptional fruit from our estate vineyards. A heat spike occurred in mid-September, compressing the harvesting timeline, but the temperatures subsided later in the month and picking occurred under ideal conditions.
Comments from the Winemaker
This full-bodied wine has lofty weight yet the wine is supple, elegant and well-balanced. The aroma is inviting with notes of leaf tobacco, mushroom, forest floor, leather, and cinnamon. The flavors are dominated by blueberry, plum, blackberry, and a medley of spices, including clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Exhibits dusty berry, cola and wild raspberry flavors in a complex, well-focused style. Ripe and tannic, this shows nice fruit on the finish, where the tannins provide traction. Drink now through 2011. 7,258 cases made. –JL
