Variety:
Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) Merlot(5%) Malbec(5%)
Region: Barossa (Predominantly Eden Valley)
History: It has always been our intention to grow our production and business but we feel we would be compromising the uniqueness of our current estate wines by bulking up their quantities, thus have developed this wine together with the Friends Shiraz to fill out the range. It has taken many years to find and develop relationships with many small growers in the Barossa, but now we can truly say that these new wines are sourced from our friend’s vineyards. We now believe with the new labelling and improvements to wine styling and focus, we have created one of the best bargain wines in the Barossa.
Style: Although the Barossa has gained much of its reputation for Shiraz, Elderton have always had great success with our Cabernet and blends. The fruit is sourced from friend’s vineyards in the Barossa, other than the Elderton Estate, although made in a similar fashion. It has also developed further complexity after 8 months maturation in new and aged American and French Oak puncheons.
Tasting Note: A beautifully defined wine with ripe currant and black cherry fruit flavours with an
elegantly polished texture. Finishes with ripe fruit, mocha, vanilla-bean toasted oak & fine grained tannins. A high-quality, quirky Cabernet blend from the Barossa.
Analytical Data:
Alcohol: 14.5
TA:6.95 g/L
PH:3.4
Food Suggestions:
Meat & tomato based Pastas, Barbeques, Pizza, Lamb dishes.
