Brief History: 2nd wine of Rauzan Segla, the vineyard was once called Chateau Lamaouroux. General Manager, John Kolasa,replanted the vineyards to reflect the characteristics of the individual blocks.
Vineyard/Desc: 121 acres total, 45 hectolitrs per hectare
Grape Varieties: 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc
Vinification: rackings every 3 months, fining with egg whites, unfiltered
Aging/Barrels: in barrels for 18 months, rackings every 3 months, fining with egg whites, unfiltered
Annual Production: 100,000 bottles
Exceptional ripening conditions leading to record levels of sugar and phenolic compounds in the skins. 49.5 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 50.5 % Merlot, 10 % Presses Yield: 39 hl/ha, hand harvested, Alcoholic fermentation 7 to 8 days, soft pigeage. Pumping over twice a day, twice the volume of the vat. Malolactic fermentation in vat, ageing 15% new barrels.
