The beauty of an earlier vintage is the rich, jammy fruit that develops on the vine. This 2004 wine is packed with black and red fruit flavors of blackberry and sweet cherry. The round texture is supple and sweet with layers of herb, coffee and spice complementing the fruit. The toasty oak enriches the middle palate and carries into the long supple tannins that create this wine's beautiful, lingering finish.
Harvest Notes:
The 2004 growing season was quite early. Bloom occurred in early May, two weeks earlier than normal. Warmer weather in June progressed fruit development and the crew went thru the vineyard and made a small crop adjustment in July to further improve quality. Strict irrigation management followed to help protect the vines against the heat in late August and the fruit was harvested toward the end of the season in late September.
