The wine is an excellent example of Barossa Shiraz in the traditional Barossa style. The colour is a deep dark red. It is an infinitely round, rich, fleshy wine exhibiting endless chocolate and berries on the nose complementing warm ripe blackberry fruit and anise on the palate. The long lingering finish of firm tannins are reflective of the long dry 2003 summer.
The Wine Advocate The 2003 Shiraz, aged in largely neutral hogsheads with a small dosage of new American oak, exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with a nose of black fruits intermixed with underbrush, pepper, and wood. Straightforward, chunky, and fleshy, this enjoyable Shiraz will provide pleasure over the next 4-5 years. Score: 89. —Robert Parker, October 2005.
